Assistant Professor in Aqueous Geochemistry
Department of Earth Sciences
Syracuse University

The Department of Earth Sciences at Syracuse University seeks applicants for
a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in aqueous geochemistry, to
support growth in the areas of Environmental Geoscience and Global Change.
This hire is part of a new, University-wide initiative to expand the study
of water resources and water quality. Areas of interest include, but are not
limited to, studies relating water-rock interaction to natural, climatic,
and anthropogenic change in surface waters, ground waters, or the marine
environment. Areas of research in our Department related to aqueous
geochemistry include paleoclimatic studies of lakes and oceans, surface
water and groundwater interaction, and contaminant hydrogeology. The
successful applicant will balance an aggressive, extramurally funded
research program with both graduate and undergraduate teaching
responsibilities (Aqueous geochemistry as well as introductory courses in
Earth Sciences). We seek an individual with the capacity to collaborate
across traditional campus boundaries, and interact with individuals in areas
of existing institutional strength in the environmental sciences (e.g.,
Earth Sciences, Environmental Engineering, as well as at the SUNY College of
Environmental Science and Forestry) within a region unusually rich in water
resources. More information is available at: http://earthsciences.syr.edu.

Applicants must complete a brief online faculty application at
www.sujobopps.com <http://www.sujobopps.com> and apply to job #025606.
Applicants should attach their CV, list of references and any other
supplemental materials that they would like considered to their
applications. Syracuse University is an equal opportunity,
affirmative-action employer. The Department of Earth Sciences is committed
to enhancing the diversity of its faculty and especially encourages
applications from women, members of minority groups, and individuals with
disabilities. The search will remain open until the position is filled.
