WAGgoner Geology Seminar (WAGGS)

WAGGS is an informal, low-stress opportunity for students to present some of their work, whether it is in concept, in progress, or completed. Students are also welcome to share some preliminary results and photos from a recent field season, or even a synthesis of a recent special topic conference. Talks are generally 30 minutes at most, unless students have a special request. WAGGS is scheduled for 3:00 PM Friday afternoons throughout the Fall semester.

WAGGS serves several important purposes. It provides a low intensity forum for both undergraduate and graduate students to gain experience presenting a short talk regarding their research. Presenters receive valuable feedback from fellow undergraduates, graduates, post-docs, and faculty. It is a great opportunity to present a talk prior to upcoming meetings or even a thesis defense. Everyone benefits from learning about each others research by broadening their scope of knowledge about the various exciting research conducted here in our own Department of Earth Sciences. Additionally, WAGGS is a way to honor and remember Alec Waggoner, our fellow graduate student in the department who passed away in late October 2008 .
