Research and Teaching Interests

My research mainly focuses on using radiogenic isotopes (Hf-Nd-Pb) determined by ID-TIMS and MC-ICPMS to answer geologic questions ranging from sedimentary provenance to Archean crustal evolution (see publications).  My current research focuses on developing a technique to analyze single crystals of apatite for Sr and Nd isotopes by ID-TIMS.  I want to apply this technique to apatite from samples where the whole-rock parent/daughter ratio is likely not primary, specifically, in Archean TTGs.  If apatite is shown to retain its primary isotopic composition, even in rocks as deformed as most Archean TTGs, then much could be learned about the isotopic evolution of the early Earth.
