Due to the increase in the number of faculty in 2011 and 2012, over 9500 SF of Heroy GL is or was under renovation.  That represents more than 25% of the total net assignable space in Heroy and a very significant 40% of the space assigned to the Dept of Earth Sciences.

Included in the renovations will be a new 290 SF Geophysics lab for Dr. Robert Moucha, a new 850 SF Paleoclimate Research lab for Dr. Chris Junium, and a new 370 SF sample preparation lab as well as a  675 SF Class 1000 clean room facility for Dr. Zunli Lu for Aqueous Geochemsitry research, and new 1155 SF Class 1000 clean room facility for Dr. Scott Samson for Isotope Geochemistry research.  Dr. Greg Hoke will move into 672 SF of newly acquired space from Geography for his growing research program.

Dr. Chris Junium's will include a Class 10000 Clean Instrumentation lab as well as a Class 10000 Clean Chemistry lab.  Chris Junium's lab will be used for trace organic research and thus be designed to prevent contamination of samples from dust, skin, hair, pollen, mold, etc.
